Nutrient Reduction Facility Operator

The Lake County Water Authority is seeking qualified candidates to operate a unique alum-based water treatment facility in Lake County, Florida. Facility operation will be variable and the operator must have the ability to alternate tasks routinely.

Duties:

• Operate and maintain valves, pumps, motors, centrifuge equipment, dredges, front-end loaders, vehicles, boats and other related equipment and machinery
• Collect samples and perform analyses
• Document facility performance and maintenance
• Record daily flows and chemical usage
• Engage in emergency repair and maintenance of treatment equipment, pumps, motors, sensing devices, instrumentation and electrical equipment
• Ensure that facilities are secure
• Respond to call outs and after hours emergencies
• Clean and maintain facility grounds when necessary
• Understand and adhere to all agency health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions
• Assist Water Resources department with other tasks as necessary

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• One year water or wastewater operator experience preferred
• Knowledge of process control techniques, maintenance procedures and safe practices
• Ability to successfully perform routine on-site maintenance and emergency repairs is essential
• Demonstrated mechanical ability is a must
• Previous experience with centrifugation dewatering is preferred
• Valid driver's license
• Willingness to work weekends, on occasion, and respond to emergency calls

Rate of Pay:

Pay range is $12.24 - $19.58 per hour and commensurate with experience.
